From the same forum which brought you CraigX’s as yet undelivered promises – not that we’re judging Slaneesh by the same standards just because he posted in the same place, of course, comes news that Slaneesh is working on MAME4ALL:

With all the recent Linux for Dingoo - Dingux - activity I've decided to initially port MAME4ALL for Linux.
So far so good, and I should have an initial version of MAME4ALL on the Dingoo soon.

Good on you, Slaneesh!  We need more devs like you on the scene!

    I'm confident the Pandora will happen, but those forums they run over there used to be VICIOUS if you were at all sceptical. It's gotten a little better recently, but mainly because people are fed up waiting.

    A600 (the one who made the original cpu scaling apps) has also posted that he has several ports in the works, so I've been keeping an eye on that topic.

    @Anton Gully - It's true that things got pretty nasty at one point, but the atmosphere there has really changed as of late. I think that most of the community came to the realization that if they ever wanted to have a real user-base they'd have to stop scaring off newcomers. That being said, it did get quite frustrating when folks would come in all skeptical despite all the facts being right in front of their face. It gets quite annoying after the hundredth time someone fails to read the pinned articles that say 'READ ME FIRST'. You're right tho, most of the aggression was just wrongly directed angst due to a dry-spell of updates & people fed up with waiting.

    ...Sorry, It's my roost & I feel like we need to re-build our image in the eyes of many as we seem to have developed (somewhat rightly so) a sort of elitist, exclusive façade. It is a community about open handhelds, and as such it should be more open to newcomers.

The nice folk at isharegifts gracefully sent me a sample Dingoo A380 for review. Having declared my pecuniary interest, in truth though, after playing with this new Dingoo, bribery and graft is strictly unnecessary for its promotion.  IMHO, the product does stand on its own merits.  It remains a testament to the original A320, and its rabid, passionate community (hey, that’s us dudes) that even in 2011, some 3 years after the word “Dingoo” became somewhat a part of the English language,  that it still remains the best Dingoo-type device.  This is because it is still the best supported, thanks to Booboo’s original Dingux, and now OpenDingux.  Dingux means access to emulators and software other than those that came with the original A320’s native uCos firmware.  Dingux allows for ports of games like Doom and Duke Nukem.  Dingux is what turned the A320 from a glorified media player into the device we know and love. A somewhat new game for Dingux from ZX-81: Dingux-Mancala: A Mancala Game v1.1.0 for Dingoo/Dingux Hi All, Mancala is a board game familly, originated in East Africa. The word "Mancala" came from arabic word "naqalah" that means literaly "To move". Dingux-Mancala is the "Awari" variant, and even if the rule of this game is simple, the complexity can be compared to chess Game. The AI is based on the source code of H. Huseby & G.T. Tauon PC-1 review

You should give this a chance. It deserves one. Welcome to the Tauon PC-1. A Tauon is an incredibly  geeky sciency thing , as it happens, and has nothing to do with the  Great Eastern Philosopher . You won't find it for sale anywhere other than on Tauon's website , and on ebay so far as I can see,  and then only if you're a regular visitor of the ebay "vintage computer hardware" category.  It won't even turn up on ebay if you search for the product name: "Tauon PC1"  - you'll just stumble upon it one day, when you're looking for a replacement floppy drive, or a C64.  So, what is it? It's a computer in a dinky little case!
