New A380 Custom Firmware and a Chips Challenge Bonus!

Hats off to Alien Grey for continuing to support the device that’ll never die, the A380! Alien has released a new CFW … and to keep you playing, a new version of Tile World AKA Chip’s Challenge, for your Dingooing pleasure! Way to go!

The new Dingoo A-380 CFW V2.11.04 "Exmortis II" is available for download:

What's new:

1. The kernel has been replaced with an updated factory kernel. The kernel has been updated by d_smagin for better compatibility. A second kernel is no longer needed except maybe for charging the battery. It's still possible to boot the factory kernel with the VMLinux files to charge the battery if necessary.
2. There's a new dmenu item added to enable and disable the swapfile. The first time you change the Swap in dmenu to On it's going to make the 128MB swapfile. This takes some time so wait patiently till you hear the "Plop" sound and the icon animation continues.
3. The CFW Nintendo emulator has been updated by d_smagin to version 2.2.2. This version has improved sound and a full screen scaler.
4. The CFW FinalBurn Alpha emulator has been updated to version This version supports more games but does no longer support .fba format.
5. The dmenu items Capcom System 1, Capcom System 2 and NEO-GEO from CFW Emulators has been removed.
Note: Don't use Swap if you don't need it. Enable it when necessary and disable it when no longer needed.
Enjoy another fine CFW release.  ;)
Edit: Changed swapfile size from 192MB to 128MB because of freezes while playing games. If you downloaded the CFW Emulator Pack before this message than you've got to delete swap folder from your Dingoo A-380 and replace it with this one:

Read more about CFW for the A380 here:

And Chips Challenge here:

This is a port of Tile World (Chip's Challenge) for the Dingoo A-380 CFW.

Tile World is an open source emulator of Chip's Challenge, able to
emulate both the original Atari Lynx version as well as the Microsoft
Windows version. Chip's Challenge remains a popular game even today,
despite having been introduced in 1989. Thousands of unique levels have
been created by fans.

Author: Senor Quack (Dan Silsby)
More information by the author can be found here:
Note: Copy the TileWorld folder to game folder on the external MicroSD card or it won't work. The CHIPS.DAT file isn't included because it's copyrighted. If you want to play the original Chip's challenge levels you should copy the CHIPS.DAT file to the data folder that you can find in the.tworld folder.

Heroes of Might and Magic for Android devices!

Dreams comes true... Working Heroes III (and more PC classic on the way)!

Hello all,
There are great news for all adorers of Heroes of Might & Magic III and timeless PC games of 90's.
Moscow-based software company Eltechs (previously known for their Android ports of Doom & Heretic) released a fully working port of HoMM3 onto Google Play ten days ago.

Unlike VCMI and other previous methods of running this game on ARM devices under Android, this app (called Heroes 3 Runner) works surprisingly good! Yes, it's not perfect at all, there are some sound hiccups, occasional crashes and noticeable slowdown in scrolling/drawing, but it's more than playable - and everything works well (except of LAN/modem/Internet multiplayer, but hotseat is working, of course!). And Eltechs is keep updating this app (current version: 1.0.2).

Heroes 3 Runner (like similar Doom and Heretic ports from Eltechs based on Eltechs' ExaGear Mobile software:

This game is powered by Eltechs ExaGear engine. Eltechs ExaGear is a mixture of virtualization and binary translation technology that translates in run-time Intel x86 code to ARM one. Along with translation this engine applies sophisticated optimization algorithms to bring high performance experience to end-users.
By the end of the day we can bring desktop applications to mobile devices at no costs.

It requires a ~100 MB cache (downloaded with installation) and entire Windows folder of HoMM3 installed on your Win PC (works with GOG Complete version, by the way). Then all that you need is copy that directory in app's subfolder PUT_HEROES3_HERE and that's all. You may enjoy the game for free for 3 days before app will ask you to purchase a 30 days pass or "full version" to play forever. Cost of "full version" is about 150 rubles (~$4.25) which is blatantly FAIR PRICE for such treasure.
Unfortunately, Heroes 3 Runner was taken off from Google Play last night (probably because of some copyright's claim from UbiSoft), and while it unavailable there, you may use legit apk and cache from devs (they were released on popular Android Russian forum
Cache: (unzip it in sdcard/Android/obb)
Official site:
Google Play: (taken off for now)
System requirements: Android 3.0+, 105 MB of free NAND. Device with 7"+ screen is highly recommended for playing, but this app works with smaller screens as well. Heroes 3 Runner currently doesn't support Intel-based devices and an exclusive for Android.
More games are expected to follow (for example, a preliminary build of Might & Magic 7 was also released on - currently devs are discussing their next release with 4PDA's members. Diablo, Arcanum, Fallout, Elder Scrolls and Civilization games currently among most popular requests :D!
